Abstract: | Prawns are the delicious food items with high export value. Freshwater prawns, Macrobrachium rosenbergii were reared in four ponds selected in the eastern part of Indian Sundarbans at a density of 2 individuals/m2 for 90 days during 2016. The average initial weight of the seed was 0.08gm. Culture of this species in contaminated water system has resulted in the deterioration of the flesh quality. The present paper reflects the contamination of prawn tissue with microbial strains like Salmonella, Shigella, Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio , total and fecal coliform. |
